Group of coffee farmers La Falda
1,200 - 1,500 Masl
Yellow fruit, panela, coriander seed, and caramel. Silky body, bright orange acidity with hints of almonds.
La Falda is a group of small coffee farms located in Garzon, Huila (Colombia), focused in developing high standards of quality in their coffee plantations.
Their job is remarkable, taking into account in recent years they have needed to cope with very the difficult situation of leaf rust - something the majority of the farms in this region have had huge problems with, where warmer temperatures lead to a less productive harvest. On top of this there’s also the impact from the government incentive to plant resistant varieties which don't produce great cup quality; both leading to the majority of coffee farmers in the region switching away from traditional varieties to just commodity grade coffees.
