What is score?

  • The SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) is the global body that sets the standards for specialty coffee. Their scoring system, based on a 100-point scale, evaluates coffees based on various factors like aroma, flavour, acidity, body, aftertaste, sweetness and balance. Coffees scoring 80+ are considered specialty grade, with those scoring 86+ representing the top tier of quality and complexity.

What is single origin?

  • Single origin means the coffee comes from one specific region, farm, or cooperative, rather than a blend from multiple places. This allows you to experience the unique characteristics of that area’s climate, soil, and processing methods.

What are tasting notes?

  • Tasting notes describe the natural flavours found in the coffee, such as chocolate, citrus, or floral tones. These are not added flavours but arise from the bean’s variety, growing conditions, and roasting process.

What is the processing method?

  • This refers to how coffee beans are removed from the cherry after harvesting, which influences their final taste.
  • Free UK Royal Mail tracked 48 delivery on all orders over £25.
  • For orders under £25 delivery is charged at £2.95.

Duberney Cifuentes

Duberney Cifuentes is a distinguished producer who has reached the pinnacle of Colombian specialty coffee, securing first place in the prestigious Cup of Excellence competition in 2023. Originally trained as a forest technician, he brings a unique ecological perspective to Finca La España in Planadas. Duberney manages his farm with the same care as a protected reserve, prioritising soil health and biodiversity to create a thriving environment for his coffee trees. His scientific background and meticulous attention to detail ensure that every harvest reflects the full potential of the region's volcanic terroir.

La España

Located in the rugged mountains of Planadas, Tolima, Finca La España is a small, family-run estate covering just 4 hectares. Sitting at a soaring altitude of over 1,600 metres, the farm is managed less like a conventional plantation and more like a carefully tended garden, reflecting Duberney’s background in forestry. Rich volcanic soils and a diverse canopy of native shade trees create a unique microclimate that protects the coffee and encourages slow maturation, resulting in beans of extraordinary density and flavour.

Washed Processing

The exceptional quality of this coffee is largely due to Duberney’s meticulous processing and signature slow-drying technique. After a controlled fermentation to develop fruit notes, the beans are moved to raised beds under full shade, where they dry gently for up to 40 days.

This incredibly slow process allows the moisture to stabilise gradually, locking in complex sugars and preserving the vibrant flavour profile that characterises this championship-level coffee.
