What is score?

  • The SCA (Specialty Coffee Association) is the global body that sets the standards for specialty coffee. Their scoring system, based on a 100-point scale, evaluates coffees based on various factors like aroma, flavour, acidity, body, aftertaste, sweetness and balance. Coffees scoring 80+ are considered specialty grade, with those scoring 86+ representing the top tier of quality and complexity.

What is single origin?

  • Single origin means the coffee comes from one specific region, farm, or cooperative, rather than a blend from multiple places. This allows you to experience the unique characteristics of that area’s climate, soil, and processing methods.

What are tasting notes?

  • Tasting notes describe the natural flavours found in the coffee, such as chocolate, citrus, or floral tones. These are not added flavours but arise from the bean’s variety, growing conditions, and roasting process.

What is the processing method?

  • This refers to how coffee beans are removed from the cherry after harvesting, which influences their final taste.
  • Free UK Royal Mail tracked 48 delivery on all orders over £25.

About The Producer

Rumudamo comes from Daye Bensa, sourced from one of their most distinguished regions in the Arbegona Wereda, Sidama. The name itself carries dual meaning, fertile land and a place with many tree roots, reflecting the rich soil and lush vegetation that surrounds it. Coffee from this area is gathered from several surrounding villages, sitting at an altitude of 2200 to 2400 metres above sea level, an environment that offers ideal conditions for cultivating truly exceptional coffee.

Ethiopia Heirloom

The indigenous ‘heirloom’ varietals, which grow naturally in Ethiopia, impart unique and complex flavours to the coffee. These varietals are responsible for the lively, juicy, and often jammy stone fruit notes that shine through, along with floral aromas and hints of chocolate, creating a cup with a creamy body and exceptional depth.

Natural Anaerobic

Rumudamo is processed using the natural anaerobic method. The whole cherry is sealed in an oxygen free environment to ferment before drying, a technique that allows the fruit's natural sugars to develop with far greater intensity than standard natural processing.
